Background:
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in DE and am working on my license in Professional Counseling in PA. I received my Bachelor's degree from Delaware State University and Master's degree in Psychology from Springfield College. My post graduate training has included Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT), Drug and Alcohol counseling, Anger Replacement Therapy, Restorative Practice and Mindfulness. I have been an active member of the human service field for over 25 years with experience working with drug and alcohol, at risk youth, the terminally ill, mis-represented fathers, family therapy, and typical youth looking for a different kind of support and guidance as they navigate life's challenges.
Approach:
I believe in multiple therapeutic approaches, understanding each person is an individual. I have a particular interest in working with children and fathers. I am a genuine lover and believer in humanity and feel this is felt by my clients. I use humor and non-traditional forms of therapy to build rapport and help each client feel they can overcome whatever barriers, struggles, or hardships life faces them with. If talk therapy hasn't worked for you before, we will work together to figure out what is best, using creative forms (art, music, poetry) or perhaps going for a walk while talking. I will work collaboratively with you to accommodate your individual needs, interests, and strengths.
