Background
I am currently earning my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and am a dedicated therapist-in-training at A Nurturing Mind supporting families, couples, children and individuals. I received my Bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University and after spending time in Washington, DC working for my Congressman, went back to school and received my JD/MBA from Northwestern University.
Working as a corporate attorney for a decade+ helped me develop empathy, conflict resolution, critical thinking, advocacy and negotiation skills and I have also served as a mentor and leader. My volunteer experience has ranged from working with victims of domestic violence, children experiencing trauma and partnering with social services and at-risk youth as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). I have experienced firsthand the transformative effect of therapy on a family system and feel privileged to partner with individuals, couples, children and families to collaborate on positive changes for whatever life challenges arise.
Approach
I have a profound faith in peoples’ resilience and capacity for change. At the same time, we all can face difficulties, life changes or situations that feel overwhelming and negatively impact our health, well-being and relationships. I work with clients to both figure out what problem they are trying to solve as well as coming up with a solution. Because each person, couple or family is different, I pull from multiple strength-based therapeutic approaches to incorporate strategies that make sense to, and for, each family system.
As a therapist, I am warm, engaged, curious and flexible – and feel one can never underestimate the power of humor! Finally, my own experiences and training have underscored the value of a relational framework – to work with clients to better understand and shift their relationships with themselves as well others.
