Brianna Bowers, MA

Background

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Temple University, followed by my Master’s degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. I have worked with diverse populations at a private practice in South Philly.  I have also worked in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services with children.  These experiences have strengthened my passion and desire to help others accept and challenge behaviors they struggle with in their daily lives. Through acceptance and growth, I strive to bring a balance of humor and resilience to my therapy.

Approach

I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey in accepting past challenges and working towards overcoming them. Through the difficulties and transitions we face as individuals, our physical and mental well-being are put at risk. My goal is to work through these challenges, reduce symptoms, and create solutions to ground clients with mental and somatic techniques. The therapeutic space is different for everyone, and I strive to create a balance of humor while maintaining respect for the work we will build together. I like to utilize CBT and ACT skills/techniques to focus orientation on acceptance; whether this is acceptance for yourself, the situation overall, or what the future might hold. My goal is to allow clients the space to feel heard and to accept themselves, while strengthening their feelings of self-worth and well-being.

As a therapist, I value adaptability in the therapeutic space and encourage you to lead the conversations. Communication is the heart of this process and my goal is to ensure there you are comfortable to discuss what you feel is best. Spoiler alert, you do not need to come prepared with updates unless you want to!
